Most conference activities will be held in the University of Maryland's newest classroom building, the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center (ESJ), which opened in May 2017. Its classrooms are tailored to active and technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
Registration, breakfast (most days), and some conference activities will be at the official conference hotel, The Hotel at the University of Maryland, recently opened and a short walk from ESJ.
Just across Campus Drive from ESJ is the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, or "The Stamp," which offers a convenience store, a food court, an ATM, and the University Book Center -- a convenient stop if you need supplies or UMD souvenirs.
UMD offers a free wireless network for guests on campus. The SSID of this network is umd-guest. You must have a mobile phone that can receive SMS text messages to complete the setup. Learn more at go.umd.edu/guest-wifi. If you have trouble connecting, call the IT Service Desk at 301.405.1500 for assistance.
The University of Maryland and The Hotel are located less than one mile from the College Park Metro station, which is located on Metro's Green Line. Campus is also located near the three major airports that serve the Baltimore-Washington, DC area. Complimentary shuttle service is available for The Hotel guests, and it offers transportation to the College Park Metro Station and access to other destinations within a three-mile radius.
Daily commuters are encouraged to park at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. The daily parking for attendees at The Hotel has been reduced to $10 per day. Commuters may collect a validation sticker for their parking ticket at the conference registration/information table daily in order to receive the reduced rate. Campus parking is available in Lot 1 without a permit during the conference dates. Commuters may also park in the visitor parking area located on the top level of the Regents Drive Garage. Visitor parking lot fees are $3 per hour (no daily maximum). Access campus parking maps.
